I received a Galaxy S6 Edge which was fingerprint locked and unfortunately the forensic software I have cannot bypass or remove this type of lock.

In addition, this handset is not supported for a JTAG.

Has anyone successfully read the UFS chip from this model of Samsung?

If so, how did you do it?

Chip details

SEC 504
E0B1
KLUCG8G1B0
N88260A6

Dimensions - 13mm by 11mm.

I have contacted UP who make the adapters I currently use to read chips, but they haven't got back to me.

Many thanks
Tom

No need to remove the chip (which currently there is no adapter for); instead you can flash a TWRP to the device and access the .key files containing the fingerprint/password values to gain access.

Thank you for the reply.

Which software did you use to load the TWRP onto the phone?

I tried using BST to do just that but it would not let me.

I am not sure if the device has My Knox installed on it.

Odin3 v3.10.6 for the latest G925F TWRP. As for options, leave 'F.Reset Time' as set, but untick 'Auto Reboot' and your good to go.

We're are starting to get more and more of these devices in. We haven't tried it yet, but does rooting delete any of the user data? Are they risks or losing everything?

There are risks involved; depending on your method if you flash an incompatible file or attempt it on a device with a locked bootloader you could brick the device or get it stuck in a boot loop. What data you change depends on what exact method you are undertaking. If you are flashing a TWRP your essentially going to replace the recovery partition with a custom recovery partition.

Tom, if you have this particular device Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge LTE-A (SM-G925F) you can try our new method "Samsung dump via custom forensic recovery" in Oxygen Forensic Detective. It allows to bypass screen lock and do physical extraction on supported Samsung Android devices. The above mentioned model must be supported. You can contact our support for more details.

OxygenSoftware Does this affect the Knox fuse? I don't have the detective edition to test this myself, unfortunately.

Are Samsung using a regular UFS chip for this model (unlike the G920)?
