I have a question about temp internet files.
One day I was able to access the getmsg and compose files that hotmail leaves behind in the temp internet files. The next day, the getmsg and compose files are not there, but the user is still accessing and receiving messages from hotmail. Any ideas why all of a sudden just these files are not showing anymore in the temp internet file folder?
OS - XP
Thanks
They were deleted?
May be that the space allocated for temp internet files is full and the old stuff is getting deleted.
Are you just looking at it in Windows explorer? Make sure your in the same folder. If he has outlook or OE set up to get his hotmail there will be no record in the temp files. Check the dbx and/or pst files.
No, other files are being written to the folder and it is cleaned out by us daily. So the allocated size is not being approached. I am checking via windows explorer and the user has not set it up to pull from outlook. The only change that was made is MSN Messenger was uninstalled. Ever since, the getmsg and compose are not showing in the folder.
The following are possibilities:
They are using another browser
They figured out how to redirect the internet cache to another folder or external device. (unlikely if other stuff is in there)
They are erasing the specific files related to hotmail.
Just suggestions, but I guess it comes down to them being motivated to cover the hotmail activity. It sounds like that is the focus, so maybe your subject is getting suspicious
