I am currently waiting next week to speak wih a attorney about a issue I am having but i wanted to see what someone elses opinion is on this and if anyone else had same issue.
I am a computer repair shop that does some data recovery. I was hired by a client to go through 2 computer systems and a external hard drive to see if files was deleted and see if i could find anything. Because a Employee left and might have stolen files or tampered with computers
Which I proceeded on doing, after making a report that was requested by my client I was called in by the police department to explain my findings. long story short.
Yesterday I get a call from another client of mines who does work with this employee, claiming he is going to get all my computer equipment i have in my office and my clients equipment seized.
I am trying to figure out how legally someone could just seize all my computers when I was paid to do a simple job that anyone could have done. I am a 3rd party to both my client and his ex-employee.

In some states you have to be a licensed Private Investigator to be able to do digital forensics.
