Belkasoft X Introduces Advanced Facial Recognition Capability To Accelerate Digital Evidence Review

New Similar Face Search Feature Eliminates the Need for External Tools, Streamlines Investigative Workflows

Belkasoft announced the launch of the facial recognition feature in version 2.10 of Belkasoft X—the all-in-one digital forensics platform renowned for its smart AI assistant, BelkaGPT. Just like all BelkaGPT features, this powerful new capability works entirely offline and is designed to help investigators quickly locate persons of interest within digital evidence without the time-consuming process of exporting data to third-party applications.

The Similar Face Search feature delivers two distinct workflows to match investigator needs:

  • Automated Face Grouping for Rapid Review. Investigators can now select any image from the Pictures profile to instantly view other photographs containing matching individuals within the case. This automated grouping accelerates the review process and reveals connections that might otherwise require hours of manual examination.
  • Targeted Search with Custom Photo Upload. Users can upload any photograph to search across case evidence and identify images containing individuals of interest. This capability is particularly valuable when working with reference photos from external sources or investigating specific subjects.

The technology behind Similar Face Search is built to handle real-world challenges in digital evidence. The system reliably identifies matching individuals across photographs with varying lighting conditions, camera angles, and image quality—conditions commonly encountered in forensic investigations.

Results are displayed with faces showing up to 50% similarity and automatically ranked by match confidence, enabling investigators to prioritize high-probability matches and work systematically through their caseload. This intelligent sorting helps teams make faster, more informed decisions about which leads to pursue.

“This feature represents a valuable addition to our AI-powered toolkit for investigators,” said Yuri Gubanov, the Belkasoft CEO. “By integrating facial recognition directly into the Belkasoft X platform, we’re eliminating workflow friction and giving investigators more time to focus on analysis rather than data management.”

The facial recognition capability runs completely offline and is available now to all BelkaGPT module users. Learn more about Belkasoft X at belkasoft.com/x
