Berla Introduces iVe 5.0, Adding Support For More Than 38,500 Additional Vehicles

New acquisition software, modular hardware, and integrated guidance expand investigators’ options for accessing vehicle data.

Berla Corporation today announced iVe Generation 5, expanding vehicle forensics coverage to more than 38,500 additional vehicles globally.

iVe 5.0 adds support for 388 infotainment and telematics systems and 250 associated components, along with 934 acquisition profiles and 955 instructional resources.

“iVe 5.0 represents a major step forward in what investigators can acquire and how they acquire it,” said Ben LeMere, CEO of Berla. “Broader vehicle support, new acquisition capabilities, and greater control over evidence collection give investigators more paths to vehicle data. Built on more than fifteen years of vehicle system forensics experience, Generation 5 brings these advancements together on a new foundation for expanding support. Investigators gain substantially greater capability with iVe 5.0 and are backed by a platform built for the future.”

Expanded Capabilities for Vehicle Investigators

  • Greater control throughout acquisition. Built from the ground up, iVe 5.0 software brings acquisition profiles, instructions, setup, connection testing, and collection controls together in the Collection Manager. In supported workflows, investigators can pause or resume collection while retaining completed segments, avoiding the need to repeat completed work after an interruption.
  • Continued value from acquired evidence. The iVe Evidence Container (.iVEC) preserves original acquired data and supports integrated integrity validation. Separating acquisition from parsing allows investigators to choose when to process collected data and apply future decoding improvements to supported acquisitions already collected, without acquiring the data again.
  • Adaptable hardware and new probe acquisitions. Generation 5 modular hardware provides stable, precise setups that can be configured around different target systems. The new Probe Kit adds a non-destructive acquisition option for supported systems, with positioning references that connect the hardware setup directly to instructions in the software. For existing customers, probe acquisitions are enabled through an optional hardware upgrade.
  • System-specific guidance throughout the workflow. Created from the ground up, the instructional resources help investigators identify system variants, understand available acquisition options, and follow removal, disassembly, preparation, and setup procedures. Detailed imagery and consistent instructions are integrated into identification and acquisition workflows.
  • Equipment ready to move from lab to field. A modular dual-case deployment system brings new and existing hardware together in reconfigurable storage. Removable Component Bags and a portable Breakout Toolkit keep equipment protected, organized, and accessible as investigators move between locations.

Berla developed Generation 5 over almost two years while maintaining its existing iVe release schedule. The work combined worldwide vehicle-system research with a consistent process for developing acquisition profiles and instructional resources, designed to accelerate support for new systems and additional acquisition methods for systems already supported by iVe.
