Detego Global, the creator of Detego, the acclaimed Unified Digital Investigations Platform, has secured a patent in the United States for the company’s Red-Amber-Green alert technology – further enhancing its computer forensics offerings which include Detego Field Triage, Detego Media Acquisition and Detego Ballistic Imager, the world’s fastest device imager.
The technology enables investigators to pre-load devices such as USB sticks and other removable media with pre-defined keywords, hashes and regular expressions. Once connected to a target device, Detego’s technology will provide users with instant visual alerts through a red, amber, green system if any pre-defined criteria is found. Detego’s field triage technology also allows users to customise keywords based on the type of investigation, enabling it to be easily deployed across a wide range of investigations relating to terrorism, CSAM, CAID, Project VIC, IIOC / ICAC, human trafficking, financial crime and insider threats. With matches being made rapidly, an entire computer can be scanned in under 15 minutes.
Sharing his thoughts on securing the patent, Dave Kirk, Detego Global’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, “We are really excited – this recognises our ability to empower investigators with the latest technology, helping streamline processes and speed-up decision making on all investigations, particularly those involving children and life-threatening criminal activity.”
With red alerts signifying positive hash value matches, amber highlighting keyword and ‘regex’ matches and green symbolising zero keyword and hash value matches, the automated alert system enables investigators to make snap decisions in time-critical scenarios. The feature was developed to help front-line and first responders in military, police, border control and enterprises to proactively identify and neutralise threats faster, and triage devices.
“This technology comes as a great enabler for all frontline officers as it gives them an edge in the field as well as in the lab. The technology not only increases the efficiency of investigations, but also enables teams to carry out preliminary investigations while strengthening critical live time investigations” added Andy Lister, the company’s Global Head of Business Development.
This is Detego Global’s second patent in the Digital Investigations industry. The first encompasses the technology used in its Ballistic Imager tool which enables investigators to rapidly and forensically ‘image’ hard drives (Up to 1TB in less than 8 minutes – a speed that is 4 times faster than the industry average which can be achieved without removing the hard drives of devices).
In addition to further strengthening their unified digital investigations platform with several new products, the team at Detego Global are in the process of launching a new partner program for Value Added Resellers (VARs).
