EnCase Portable Wins Cygnus Law Enforcement Group Award in Forensics Category

EnCase Portable has been selected by an independent judges panel of law enforcement professionals for the Forensics award in Cygnus Law Enforcement Group`s 2009 Innovation Awards. The panel evaluated products submitted for innovativeness, productivity, quality, contribution, ease of use and maintainability at an awards event held in conjunction with the International Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference…Cygnus Law Enforcement Group publishes Law Enforcement Technology,
Law Enforcement Product News, and Officer.com.

EnCase Portable is a data acquisition solution that enables law enforcement,
government, law firm and corporate customers to leverage the powerful search and
acquisition capabilities of EnCase software in a wide range of field
applications. Unlike existing computer forensics solutions, EnCase Portable runs
on a USB drive, rather than a laptop, and enables the user to easily and rapidly
boot a target computer to the USB drive and run a pre-configured data search and
collection job. Even personnel untrained in computer forensics can forensically
acquire documents, Internet history and artifacts, images, and other digital
evidence, including entire hard drives, with a few simple keyboard clicks.

“We are honored to have received Cygnus Law Enforcement Group`s Innovation Award
in the Forensics category,” said Victor Limongelli President and CEO for
Guidance Software. “EnCase Portable is the latest in over a decade of Guidance
`firsts` in the field of digital investigations and it underscores our ongoing
commitment to the law enforcement community.”

“Up against a variety of new digital forensics products made especially for the
law enforcement industry, EnCase Portable stood out,” said Tabatha Wethal,
Associate Editor, Law Enforcement Technology, Cygnus Law Enforcement Group.
“Judges felt this pocket-sized data acquisition tool was a product that
departments will use and love, citing its utility in today`s enforcement and
investigations and its ease of use in the field. It`s not only innovative, but
it`s a budget saver because anyone can use it.”
