Enhanced Steganography Detection Tool Available

Backbone Security has announced the newest version of their industry leading steganography application detection tool, Steganography Analyzer Artifact Scanner (StegAlyzerAS) at the DoD Cyber Crime Conference 2008. Online threat forecasts for 2008 include increasing use of obfuscation techniques such as digital steganography to help criminals conceal their activities by foiling forensic tools widely used by computer forensic examiners in law enforcement, the intelligence community, and the private sector…As the most comprehensive and accurate steganography application detection tool available on the commercial market, StegAlyzerAS V3.0 is the forensic examiner’s tool of choice for detecting file and Windows Registry(TM) artifacts associated with 650 steganography applications.

Detection accuracy has been improved through a dramatic reduction in the number of false positive detections that can occur as a result of detecting files commonly associated with both steganography applications and other popular and widely deployed non-steganography applications.

Other members of the StegAlyzer family of products developed in Backbone’s Steganography Analysis and Research Center (SARC) include the Steganography Application Fingerprint Database (SAFDB), the world’s largest commercially available database of hash values exclusive to steganography applications and the Steganography Analyzer Signature Scanner (StegAlyzerSS) which detects more signatures of steganography applications than any other commercially available product and provides a unique “point-click-and-extract” interface to extract hidden information.
