Forensic Focus will be offline from Friday evening until Sunday night while we carry out a major site update. We’re hoping to minimise any disruption but we wanted to draw your attention to the following in particular:
– It will be necessary to login again when the site is back online and any cached credentials in your browser may no longer be valid. It might be wise to make a quick note of your username and password now to avoid any issues later.
– In terms of functionality, the most obvious change will probably be to the private messaging system which will become more like a chat system. This might take a little while to feel comfortable with for anyone used to the current system but it brings some advantages. It’s impossible to please everyone when making significant changes to the look and feel of a website but we hope the improvements to how we bring you digital forensics news and articles will be welcome, the existing site has had a very long run and served us well but the time has come to move forward.
That’s the plan anyway but anyone who’s been involved with this sort of project will know that unexpected issues often crop up despite extensive testing. If we encounter any major problems over the weekend, well, we’ll probably be back on the old site on Monday morning while we get things ironed out! Equally, even if things go well it might be that there are minor issues after the update when the site is under real world usage – rest assured we’ll look to address those as soon as possible but feel free to let us know about anything you encounter through the contact form – thank you!
