Oxygen Forensics releases a major update to its flagship mobile evidence discovery solution, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014, implementing advanced cross-analysis of evidence collected from multiple mobile devices. Version 6.0 implements new visualization options to chart all connections and communications between multiple suspects within a single case, and improves the Timeline to present events generated by multiple mobile devices in a single view.
This time around, Oxygen Forensic Suite 6.0 targets gang offences greatly improving the analysis of multiple mobile devices within a case. New analysis options allow investigating interactions occurring among users of multiple mobile devices, while the improved Timeline view is now able to display all events occurring during a certain time period in a single view regardless of the number of mobile devices in the case.Targeting Gang Offences
With rapid growth of both the number of mobile devices and the amount of information stored in them, being able to analyze information acquired from numerous smartphones and tablets becomes essential to solving gang offences.
“During the last year, we worked hard on improving the acquisition process and adding support for more types of mobile devices than ever. The greatly increased amount of information available in todays’ mobile devices made us work hard on analyzing the data”, says Oleg Fedorov, Oxygen Forensics President. “With this release, we are offering an easy way to visualize interactions, common contacts and social connections among multiple mobile users. We’ve extended the Timeline to fit events generated by multiple mobile devices into a single view, making it easier for forensic specialists to investigate criminal activities performed by organized groups”.
In this release, Oxygen Forensics greatly improves cross-analysis of evidence collected from multiple smartpphones by fitting information collected from several devices into a single screen. Being able to review the links, connections, interactions and other activities of multiple parties on a single screen gives investigators the much-needed insight on the crime and serves as a great starting point for investigating a gang.
Investigating Social Connections
In version 6.0, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 adds a new Social Graph, allowing investigators to review social connections between the owner of a mobile device and his contacts, as well as to investigate connections between multiple device owners. The new section is highly flexible, and can be configured to either view communication statistics and build communication circles of the most frequently contacted contacts for a single device owner, or analyze links and connections between multiple device owners.
By using Social Graph, investigators have an opportunity to quickly determine common contacts discovered in multiple devices, analyze their interactions and review how they link and connect to each other in a single glance. The graph is highly customizable, allowing to include or exclude individual contacts or groups of contacts and to concentrate on what is essential.
Solving Gang Crime with the New Timeline
Timeline has always been Oxygen’s signature feature, and a major analytical tool for forensic experts. Displaying all user activities and system events in a single graphical view, the Timeline offered investigators an easy way of analyzing suspect activities over a particular period of time. The Timeline integrates all pictures, logged and deleted messages, social communications, purchases, and even flight and hotel booking events in a single aggregated view. Before version 6.0, the use of the Timeline was limited to analyzing a single device order at a time.
Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 6.0 lifts this limitation, allowing investigators review activities of multiple device owners in a single graphical view. This enables quick insight into what was happening during a certain period time to the owners of mobile devices under investigation. The new Timeline enables forensic experts to investigate links and connections between the owners of multiple mobile devices belonging to the same case by analyzing their contacts and communications, reviewing pictures and videos taken at the same time on different devices, and reviewing other activities and interactions of different mobile users. All activities can be investigated over a defined time period of time.
