Hello experts,

I have a blur car number plate image, any help please to unblur the number?

The image URL is: https://postimg.cc/nMGPq5vq

It's the white van details I am after.

Much appreciated!

Guy

Can you tell something more about the case? And do you have an image without the red square? Because of the editing the image quality is probably a few % lower. What have you tried yourself...?

I did some research for you...

The car shows a Ford emblem, so assumable its a Ford... Reverse image search did give some direction, and its probable a Ford Transit 260S 2.2 TDCI 3 seats...

Then a normal English number plate: The first two letters are the DVLA memory tag, the two numbers (the age identifier) indicate the age of the vehicle, and the last three letters are random.

This type of Ford transit is from around 2006-2009. So according to https://www.theaa.com/car-buying/number-plates the two numbers must be 56, 57, 58 or 59.

The last three letters are random, but it strongly looks like MZG.

The first two letters are very difficult to see, but not the same. Unfortunately there are a lot of regions (DVLA memory tag), but we can filter out all the regions with the same letters...

https://www.car.co.uk/media/guides/number-plates/uk-number-plate-area-codes

So... we are searching a Ford Transit, white, with a number plate ending with:

## 56 MZG

## 57 MZG <-- not likely, I believe its not a 7

## 58 MZG

## 59 MZG

Now we can search the vehicle database, and hoping to find this car...

https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/?locale=en

The Ford Transit seems to be missing a part of his white left side plate on the back, and seems to have bigger tires on the back. Maybe this is done for using some kind of trailer, or modification for motocrossing... Something like this

The white sign on the wall could also be helpfull. It has the same blurring. If we know where this picture is exactly taken, we can compare some signs and make a successfull match with the signs of the number plate...

Thank you very much for your in depth reply. Here is the image without the red box.

The street sign is Ashington Road.

Here is another image of the vehicle from another CCTV.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated! I have tried entering a number of different reg plate numbers/combos using your above theory, our thinking was also MZG and a 56 year, into the gov database and also another database but with no luck unfortunately.

Best,

Guy

Hi Guy, thank you for the cleaner picture. After some further research I did find the right number plate... Before I tell you, I want to let you know that right next to the street sign I see another security camera. Probably overwritten after this time, but you'll never know...

The number plate is FY56MZG, Area Forest & Fens, Lincoln. On this site you can find its a white Transit 100 T350I D/C RWD

Good luck!

Thank you! Thank you very much indeed for helping with this, it's been a big weight hanging over my company.

We did notice the security cameras on the other side of the road, indeed there were two which would have been better, but sadly they aren't functional.

When the police don't help, the forensic experts can!

Many thanks again, and all the best. Guy
