Belkasoft Advances AI-Assisted DFIR With Major Update To Belkasoft X And BelkaGPT

Belkasoft, a leading provider of digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) software, announced a significant update to Belkasoft X and its offline AI assistant, BelkaGPT. The release introduces a suite of capabilities designed to reduce investigative friction, surface evidence faster, and allow forensic professionals to harness the power of artificial intelligence without overhauling existing workflows or incurring unnecessary hardware costs.

A Smarter Investigative Assistant

The centerpiece of this release is a substantially more capable BelkaGPT. The Q&A chat now maintains full conversational context within a topic, allowing investigators to ask follow-up questions, narrow date ranges, and redirect toward specific artifact types across a continuous dialogue rather than isolated queries—guiding the AI as new leads emerge.

Relevance scoring has been expanded to evaluate between 3 and 10 of the most pertinent artifacts per question—up from a fixed ceiling of three, with a secondary analysis layer ensuring answers are grounded only in evidence that truly matches the query. Natural language interpretation has also been improved throughout, delivering more concise and actionable responses

Together, these improvements transform BelkaGPT from a query tool into a genuine investigative partner that thinks alongside the examiner.

BelkaGPT Hub: Expanded Media Processing

BelkaGPT Hub now supports media file processing, enabling teams to distribute and accelerate picture description, classification, and facial recognition preprocessing across shared GPU-equipped infrastructure. BelkaGPT Hub is purpose-built to help forensic teams introduce powerful AI workflows without requiring expensive GPUs on every investigator’s workstation, and now the full pipeline for AI analysis tasks can be offloaded to shared infrastructure, making AI-assisted investigations more streamlined and efficient.

Bridging Existing Workflows: Magnet Axiom Case Import

Belkasoft X now natively ingests Magnet Axiom case files (.mfdb), enabling investigators to apply BelkaGPT’s AI capabilities to data already processed in Axiom—without reprocessing evidence or abandoning established workflows. Supported artifact types span browsers (Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer), Office and PDF documents, emails, media files, passwords, tokens, and system artifacts including Jumplists. Combined with existing support for Cellebrite UFD, UFDX, and UFDR formats, Belkasoft X continues to lower the barrier to AI-assisted investigation regardless of an examiner’s primary toolset.

Facial Recognition, Built In

Identifying individuals across large photo libraries has long been one of the most time-intensive tasks in digital investigations. BelkaGPT now allows you to handle it directly within Belkasoft X. Investigators can browse pictures grouped by face or upload a reference photograph to search for matching individuals across all case evidence. Results are sorted by similarity rate down to 50%, so the strongest leads surface first.

“Implementing AI in digital forensics is not just about capability—it is about finding the right balance between powerful features and the ability to deploy them securely, within the constraints of real investigative environments. Belkasoft has spent years working alongside the DFIR community, and BelkaGPT is built on that foundation: not a technology showcase, but a practical tool shaped by the workflows and demands investigators face every day.”

Yuri Gubanov, the CEO of Belkasoft

Expanded Device and Artifact Coverage

This release extends Belkasoft X’s investigative reach across hardware and software alike. Mobile acquisition support has been added for 40+ smartphones, including the latest Samsung Galaxy, Moto, OnePlus, Oppo, Honor, Realme, and Redmi devices. On iOS, the update delivers enhanced Biome (SEGB) conversation extraction, improved Discord message parsing, updated Snapchat support, improved SMS contact display, and new support for Zalo — the widely-used Vietnamese messaging platform. Android forensics gains improved Gmail parsing for broader data recovery.
