Amped Software is pleased to announce Motion Detection, a new feature in Amped Replay designed to assist law enforcement officers in expediting video investigations. This innovative tool addresses the challenges of sifting through extensive CCTV footage, enabling investigators to identify suspect movements more efficiently.
The Motion Detection feature is integrated into the Play tab. This panel allows users to analyze and customize motion events within their video evidence, particularly benefiting those dealing with lengthy recordings where spotting brief movements can be challenging.
The software analyzes the video and once completed, semi-transparent red blocks will overlay regions where motion has been detected, providing a clear visual representation of movement. The underlying technology operates by comparing sequential images from the video. Significant changes in pixel patterns trigger the identification of motion events, ensuring forensically secure results.
The feature also allows users to specify a Region of Interest (ROI) for focused analysis. This capability is particularly advantageous when investigators have intelligence regarding specific areas where subjects or vehicles may appear. By drawing a rectangular selection in the video, users can limit the analysis to that area, reducing potential false positives.
Navigating through detected motion events is straightforward. Bookmarks can be added to mark motion events. The motion-detection bookmarks are visually distinct, facilitating quick identification within the timeline. Additionally, a motion plot graphically represents the amount of motion present throughout the video, enabling users to identify segments of interest quickly.
To ensure that only relevant suspect movements are flagged for investigation, users may need to set a motion threshold in addition to selecting a region of interest (ROI).
This feature enables investigators to more precisely identify motion events by filtering out insignificant movements.
Recent updates to Amped Replay have further refined the Motion Detection feature. The appearance of the motion analysis blocks has been modified to be semi-transparent, allowing users to view underlying video content while still identifying motion events.
Additionally, a new option allows users to apply the motion analysis to a selected range of frames, significantly reducing processing time for lengthy clips.
