Detego Global: Empowering Combat Forces With Cutting-Edge Tools For Stronger Cyber Operations

The Challenge

In today’s digital age, cyber and digital exploits have emerged as the new battleground for militaries, soldiers and terrorists, with technology playing a more crucial role than ever before. After a successful Sensitive Site Exploit (SSE) campaign, this elite European military unit* identified a growing challenge related to Digital Forensic Exploits. This included the lack of resources, limited access to specialised equipment and trained staff who could successfully carry out Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) and Material and Personnel Exploitation (MPE).

Delays in retrieving critical evidence and providing feedback to operators negatively impacted campaign outcomes and effectiveness. Therefore, an innovative, strategic capability was vital to address this gap.

The Solution

Detego Global’s Unified Digital Forensics Platform was identified and selected in agreement by three separate units as the leading technology for advanced Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) and Material and Personnel Exploitation (MPE). This was due to its ability to significantly decrease the common issues related to the skill fade of soldiers and military personnel, allowing combat teams to more effectively anticipate enemy operations and identify, locate and target enemy forces.

The Result

Find, Fix, Finish, Exploit, Analyse, Disseminate and convict (F3EAD/c) operations constantly directed the overall intelligence effort at the ‘Live Time’ tactical level and provided a broader strategic picture.

Detego rapidly enhanced the exploitation and recovery of intelligence (and evidence), which fed operations with the critical information required to accomplish missions.

The all-in-one platform enabled users to rapidly perform intelligence exploitation and analysis of target devices from multiple sources, including computers, loose media, mobile phones, drones and thousands of apps, with minimal training.

Detego was first rolled out to the above units more than seven years ago, enhancing both direct and discreet roles. Despite several competitors in the field and re-evaluations, the contract has been renewed multiple times as Detego continues to lead the way in rapid data exploitation capabilities. The Detego security-cleared team remains flexible and continues to be praised for its ability to add value to the customer through bespoke training.

In the words of a MOD Special Operations Senior Subject Matter Expert in the Scandinavian region:

“The capability and usability provided by Detego Global uniquely fits our needs as a forward-leaning military unit. We had several complex issues and capability gaps, which they have plugged and are helping to continually improve on.

The full deployment pack has enabled a simple single source for procurement and is a quantum leap forward in our Digital Exploit capability”.
