Digital Forensic Analyst

The Role

Analysts secure, retrieve, and examine data from digital devices such as mobile phones and computers to support police investigations. Day-to-day work includes processing evidence, recording detailed notes, presenting findings to investigators and courts, conducting peer reviews, and mentoring junior forensic technicians and other team members.

Skills & Experience

The role requires proficiency with industry-standard forensic software and techniques, alongside working knowledge of ISO17025 standards, Forensic Science Regulator Codes of Practice, and ACPO Principles. Experience examining mobile devices and computers is essential, and maintaining accredited competency within the forensic unit is expected.
