Digital Forensic Technician

The Role

Working within a government forensic computing laboratory, the technician conducts digital forensic investigations with minimal supervision. Day-to-day duties include the forensically sound acquisition and preservation of computers, servers and cloud systems, performing evidential analysis, maintaining evidence records, producing written reports, and attending search warrants and court proceedings.

Skills & Experience

Candidates should be familiar with digital forensic acquisition procedures, evidence continuity principles, and relevant standards including ISO 17025 and NPCC/ACPO guidelines. Experience with forensic capture of physical and cloud-based systems is expected, along with the ability to produce clear written reports and statements suitable for investigative use.
