Oxygen Forensic Detective Helps Prove Guilt in Underage Sex Civil Case

Oxygen Forensics, a worldwide developer and provider of advanced forensic data examination tools for mobile devices and cloud services, was recently used by a private investigator during a civil case that was the aftermath of a sexting/underage sex case investigation which involved a 16-year-old male and a 14-year-old female.

Private investigator Mark Eskridge, who had over 20 years of law enforcement experience before becoming a professional investigator, had access to the male’s mobile device, but quickly found that the male had deleted conversations with the girl after the circumstances of the relationship was revealed to the girl’s parents. With a competitor’s forensic tool, he discovered that only 4,435 text messages were displayed and available on the device. Eskridge then utilized Oxygen Forensic Detective to analyze the data further on an Apple iPhone 6. Both incoming and outgoing messages were decoded and parsed, and 11,045 total messages were located on the device. Eskridge found that many of the recovered messages were deleted messages which he confirmed by using the built-in SQLite Viewer within Oxygen Forensic Detective.“Needless to say, my attorney client was very impressed with both the recovery of deleted data and the presentation of the “conversation” view in the Oxygen report,” said Eskridge. “I am always impressed by Oxygen Forensic Detective’s ability to recover deleted data from SQLite databases and display the data in a way that is useful to the client. A big thank you to Oxygen for making me look good.”

“It is always our goal with our product that we assist law enforcement and professional investigators with the ability to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that someone is either guilty or innocent,” said Lee Reiber, Oxygen Forensics COO. “We are grateful that Mark Eskridge chose to use our product in his civil case and that his work led to a conviction. As always, we work hard to provide the best forensics product at a reasonable price so government/law enforcement types as well as private investigators can do their job well.”
