ReclaiMe starts metadata reliability research

ReclaiMe Data Recovery Company starts a research aiming to determine the reliability and accuracy of various file metadata like creation, modification, access timestamps, and probably file names in modern filesystems using copy-on-write, such as BTRFS and ReFS.In well-studied FAT and NTFS filesystems, problems with metadata reliability are understood well enough and are not that big. With the increasing complexity of filesystems and especially with introduction of copy-on-write, the reliable detection of metadata values, especially last modification date, becomes much more complex.

The research aims both to find out how internal filesystem organization affects the accuracy of metadata extracted and generally to ascertain the extent of the problem.
