The Techno Security & Digital Forensics Conference West concluded its seventh edition last month, earning high praise from both attendees and sponsors. The event marked a return to San Diego after three years in Pasadena, an outcome that proved overwhelmingly positive. The Town and Country Resort offered a lively and distinctive backdrop that supported valuable conversations long after each day’s sessions wrapped.
This year’s conference welcomed participants from 28 states, the District of Columbia, and 15 countries, including 170 first-time attendees who had never attended a Techno event before.
“Returning to San Diego was 100% the right move for Techno,” said Jennifer Salvadori, Event Director for Techno Security. “The resort provided a welcoming atmosphere not only during conference hours but also for after-hours networking—similar to what made Techno so special in Myrtle Beach.”
A Powerful Start to the Week
The conference opened Monday with a compelling keynote from Erin West, a leading expert in combatting transnational organized crime and founder of Operation Shamrock. West shed light on the growing threat of “pig butchering” scams, highly sophisticated fraud schemes operated by global criminal networks. Her presentation explored the emotional and financial manipulation used to victimize individuals, as well as the significant challenges these crimes pose to law enforcement, financial institutions, and regulatory systems worldwide.
Robust Educational Program
Over the course of three days, attendees engaged in 62 educational sessions and product demonstrations led by 67 industry experts. The program showcased emerging techniques, tools, and case studies in digital forensics, cybersecurity, investigations, and eDiscovery. Key topics included: cryptocurrency investigations, image and video authentication, mobile forensics, artificial intelligence applications and ICAC and human trafficking cases.
First-time attendee and speaker Detective Daniel Ortiz of the East Hartford Police Department described his experience:
“Attending the 2025 Techno Security & Digital Forensics Conference in San Diego was an incredible professional experience. The event brought together an exceptional community of investigators, analysts, and cybersecurity professionals. Each committed to advancing the science of digital forensics and protecting victims through innovation and collaboration.
Sharing my case study on a child exploitation investigation and the importance of multi-agency collaboration was an honor. The exchange of ideas, tools, and techniques reminded me how essential teamwork and humility are when working cases that carry such emotional weight. I left the conference re-energized, inspired, and even more determined to keep learning and contributing to this field.”
