Oxygen Forensics Adds An Industry Leading Ability To Decode Drone Data

Oxygen Forensics, a worldwide developer and provider of advanced forensic data examination tools for mobile devices and cloud services, can now parse and decode drone data from Phantom 3 and Inspire 1 drones manufactured by DJI.With over 770,000 registered drones in the United States alone and much more all over the world, drones take pictures and video and even can transport packages. Law enforcement has looked for ways to acquire data from drones that perform an illegal activity, especially GPS location data such as altitude, a direction of travel, speed, rotor speed, and facial recognition data. Armed with this type of data law enforcement can paint a picture of not only the flight of the drone in question but also all the historical flights that the user had.

“There is currently no forensic tool available in the market that allows forensic examiners to parse and decode verbose data from the multiple drone storage locations,” said Lee Reiber, COO, Oxygen Forensics, Inc. “This storage could be the on-board internal card, external SD card, a mobile application, and even the embedded drone’s chip. Oxygen Forensic Detective can now import drone dumps and decode the GPS locations showing valuable route data to the examiner all within Timeline section. Now the examiner can see the track and meta-data like speed, direction, and more. Moreover, extracted drone locations can be visualized in our Oxygen Forensic Maps. In the first release, we are supporting the most popular recreational drones from DJI. We plan to add more drones to our capabilities in the months to come.”

With the support of this newest technology Oxygen Forensics once again helps good people to make this world safer!
