Forensics Europe Expo 2026 to mark 125 years of forensic science with Metropolitan Police. UK Home Office leadership to join regulatory panel.

Forensics Europe Expo (FEE) 2026, taking place on 1–2 July at Olympia London, will bring together senior leaders, practitioners and solution providers from across the forensic community. On 1 July, the event will place special focus on marking 125 years of forensic science within the Metropolitan Police Service.

This milestone commemorates the creation of the Fingerprint Branch at New Scotland Yard in 1901, a pivotal moment in the development of modern forensic practice. At FEE 2026, the anniversary will be recognised through a dedicated keynote session and a series of features across the exhibition and wider event, reflecting on how forensic science has evolved – and where it is heading next.

The keynote, “125 years of forensics: from past achievements to future opportunities,” will be delivered by Alan Tribe, Director of Forensic Services at the Metropolitan Police Service, offering a unique perspective on the progression of forensic capabilities, from early identification methods to today’s increasingly complex digital and multidisciplinary investigations.

Home Office Insight on the Future of Forensic Regulation

FEE 2026 will also feature contributions from the UK Home Office, with Amanda-Jane Balfour, Director of Forensic Sciences, joining the event’s Advisory Board and speaking within the conference programme.

In a dedicated panel session, Amanda-Jane Balfour, alongside Darrell Matthews (The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences) and Paul Gibson (Lincolnshire Police), will explore how forensic services are adapting to evolving regulatory requirements – and what these changes mean in practice across investigation, laboratory and digital forensic environments.

This session provides attendees with direct insight into the direction of forensic policy, standards and compliance, at a time when regulation is playing an increasingly central role in shaping forensic delivery.

A Programme Built Around Real-World Application

The Forensics Europe Expo 2026 conference programme is designed to reflect the realities of modern forensic work, spanning the full investigative process – from crime scene through to laboratory analysis and digital evidence.

Across 24 CPD-accredited sessions, attendees will gain practical insight from 40+ expert speakers, covering topics including:

Disaster Victim Identification in practice, with Jon Marsden (UKDVI), Julie Roberts and Caroline Wilkinson (Liverpool John Moores University), Melanie Clarkson (RAF Cranwell) and Darren Salter (Oxfordshire Coroner Service)

Nature’s Data: Harnessing Biological and Environmental Intelligence, exploring the use of environmental and ecological data in investigations with Dr Mark Spencer (The Botany Consultancy), Komang Ralebitso Senior (Liverpool John Moores University) and Alistair Vannan (Cellmark Forensic Services)

When the Evidence Isn’t Enough: Behavioral Fusion and the Bryan Kohberger Case – delivered by Sy Ray (Virnous Corporation)

Each session is structured to deliver practical, applicable learning, supporting professional development and enabling attendees to take knowledge back into their day-to-day roles.
