This public-sector role sits within a tax investigation unit, where the specialist conducts digital forensic examinations to support the prosecution of tax-related criminal offences. Day to day, the work centres on analysing manipulated point-of-sale and other IT systems, performing reverse engineering, examining source code, conducting network analysis, and developing bespoke software tools to uncover concealed manipulation. Seizure and investigation of cryptocurrency assets also forms part of the remit. The position requires a completed Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science or a closely related discipline, along with strong written and spoken German at C1 level and a valid driving licence. A background specialising in digital forensics is advantageous.
