The Role
The examiner conducts forensic analysis of digital evidence in support of criminal investigations, working both in a laboratory setting and on-site during active law enforcement operations. The role also involves providing technical support to investigators and attorneys, and collaborating with external law enforcement and prosecutorial teams across Illinois.
Skills & Experience
A bachelor’s degree or higher in a computer-related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in computer forensics or law enforcement, is required. One to three years of exposure to evidence handling and law enforcement practices is preferred. Existing digital forensics certifications are advantageous, and the successful candidate must be willing to pursue expert witness qualifications within a year.
