Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 Adds Support for BlackBerry 10 Communication Apps

Oxygen Forensics updates its flagship mobile evidence discovery solution, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014, greatly extending support for user communications occurring in popular social networks and communication applications. In addition to support for many new communication apps, the new release introduces Activity matrix allowing to visually discover users’ peak activity periods.

The new release becomes the first forensic tool on the market to support a number of communication applications running on the BlackBerry 10 platform including BlackBerry messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook, Foursquare, Evernote, as well as data stored in the default Web browser, Calendar, Notes and Tasks. The newly added Activity matrix enables investigators easily detecting periods of peak activity, and includes data collected from all available sources such as calls, messages, and communication sessions from all supported social and communication apps.Discovering Mobile Communications

The latest release of Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 becomes the industry first mobile forensic tool to support forensic access to application data on the BlackBerry 10 platform.

“In today’s reality, smartphone users actively socialize and communicate via various applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook or Foursquare while voice calls and text messages are the least used means of communication with many smartphones users,” says Oleg Fedorov, Oxygen Forensics CEO. “As a result, it is these apps, and not call logs or text messages, that contain a major part of the user’s communications. Discovering and analyzing activities occurring in various communication applications can deliver important evidence essential for a successful investigation.”

Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 supports a wide range of communication applications for all major smartphone platforms such as Android and iOS including the latest WhatsApp version with encrypted backed up messages.

The new release is the first on the market to enable forensic support for communication applications running on the BlackBerry 10 platform.

Discovering Peak Activity Periods

Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 extends its already powerful Timeline by adding a new aggregated view to enable investigators to analyze user’s peak activity periods. The new Activity matrix aggregates information from all available data sources on the device including call logs, photos, network connections, text messages, social networking and communication applications, displaying the number of active events in a color matrix. Various filters are available allowing to analyze activity statistics for a particular remote party or time period. By reviewing the matrix, investigators can quickly determine periods of time the user was most actively using the device. This information can be the key for solving a crime, especially when multiple phones are being analyzed.

About Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014

Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 helps investigators and forensic specialists access and analyze data from a variety of mobile devices such as cell phones, smartphones and tablet PCs. Currently supporting more than 8,000 different models, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 covers the widest range of mobile devices compared to competition, and allows fully automated acquisition and analysis of supported devices.

The unique Timeline feature offers convenient, single-place access to all activities and movements performed by one or several users arranged by date and time. Investigators can track user location at every moment, build and map their historic routes, and clearly see all activities performed by the user at each location.

Another signature feature of Oxygen Forensic Suite allows investigators to perform a global search on all devices ever analyzed with the toolkit. The global search quickly reveals any connections (e.g. common contacts, exchanged calls, texts or emails) between the phone owners.

Oxygen’s statistical analysis tools allow investigators discover social connections between the users of multiple mobile devices. Calls, text messages and various messengers’ conversations are analyzed to produce charts and tables revealing the users’ closest circle at a glance.

Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 guarantees zero-footprint operation, leaving no traces and making no modifications to the content of the devices. This makes it the tool of choice among government and law enforcement agencies, security services, and forensic organizations in more than fifty countries.
