AccessData Group today announced that it is a member of a consortium that won a prestigious contract to deliver professional training in digital forensics to European law enforcement agencies.

The four-year contract was awarded by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF, in the acronym based on the French spelling) to a consortium led by Zagreb, Croatia-based INsig2, a leading regional provider of services in the field of digital forensics. Other consortium members include: AccessData, in partnership with the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS); and Ventex, an IT provider based in Rijeka, Croatia.

“We are honored to be part of this winning consortium of expert providers and are humbled to have been awarded this contract by OLAF, which we believe is a reflection of how effectively AccessData’s Digital Investigations Training program educates incident responders in the latest technology to identify, respond, investigate and prosecute cases,” said Keith Lockhart, vice president of global training at AccessData. “There is no question that our partnership with IACIS was a key ingredient in the success of this contract award. IACIS is the premier international association specializing in law enforcement training and certification in the field of computer forensics, so we are delighted they chose to team up with us in developing this program for OLAF.”

The OLAF contract engages the INsig2-led consortium to deliver and evaluate digital forensics and analyst training courses for staff working for national and regional law enforcement agencies in the EU. The training will provide national forensics experts access to certification procedures recognized and accredited at the international level.

“We are very proud to win a contract with the European Commission for organizing such a unique training event as it shows that our knowledge, rich experience, systematic work and the quality of our experts have led to worldwide recognition,” said Goran Oparnica, director of INsig2. “This success shows that we, along with our consortium partners, are doing a great job in the digital forensics community and that huge investment in knowledge always pays off.”

INsig2, Ventex and AccessData — working with IACIS, SUMURI and Spyder Forensics as sub-contractors — will be responsible for providing instructors and delivering curriculum to include the following:

• Digital investigations in Windows, Mac and Linux computers;
• Investigations of mobile phones and smartphones on all relevant operating systems;
• Investigations of computer networks;
• Quality assurance processes to improve competencies in digital forensics and analysis.

OLAF investigates fraud against the EU budget, corruption and serious misconduct within the European institutions, and develops anti-fraud policy for the European Commission. The expectations are that more than 800 investigators — mostly from the countries of the EU — will complete the digital forensics training over the course of the next four years.
